Extension and Enrichment Program
Almost everyone I know likes gifts. No matter what the gift actually is, gifts have a unique ability to make us feel special and valued, whether we have worked hard for that gift or may seemingly have done nothing to ‘earn’ it.
At BHCS, our Extension and Enrichment Program aims to help students ‘unwrap’ their gifts, talents or passions. There is an important distinction between these three words:
From Year 3 through to Year 8, students are selected to participate in themed units in Science, English, Maths and Humanities – units that are designed to extend understanding and develop deeper thinking skills. Whether they are exploring Maths in the Wild West with Sheriff Trigger Nometry, rapping out rhymes with Dr Seuss or exploring Mysteries Under The Microscope, the students are encouraged to problem solve, creatively overcome challenges and think more broadly about the subject.
At BHCS we believe that God has ‘gifted’ every student. He has wrapped within each of us gifts, talents and passions that we discover as we mature. What matters is that we are encouraged to unwrap that gift and use it in a manner that develops our character, helps our community and brings glory back to our Creator.
